Response to Intervention (RTI)

Response to Intervention (RTI) is a multi-tier approach to the early identification and support of students with learning and behavior needs. Struggling learners are provided with interventions at increasing levels of intensity to accelerate their rate of learning.  RTI supports students in general education and special education through creating and implementing a well-integrated system of instruction and intervention guided by child outcome data.

Intervention Classes
All students enrolled at SFIS Middle School are assigned an intervention class during 7th period.  These classes offer additional instructional strategies above and beyond what is provided in regular classes.  The curriculum is designed through decisions made by our Data Teams. The teams consist of teachers, support staff and administrators, who collaboratively analyze data from multiple data sources to identify strengths of learning and obstacles to support student learning.
 Study Hall

Study hall is offered in the morning in the Red Lab and also afterschool.  Students can also make arrangements with their teachers for extra support in the morning and afterschool.

Counseling

Middle school also has clinical counselors, dorm counselors and academic counselors to support the behavioral, social and academic needs of all students.
